Team Lead, Data & AI (Helsinki)
We’re hiring two Team Leads for Elisa’s Data & AI department
Are you looking for leadership role, while still using your hands-on skills? Now you have a chance to scale operations and drive the future of a modern Data & AI organization!
We’re opening two Team Lead roles that sit at the heart of our Data & AI function:
Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering & Operations
Team Lead, Data Modelling & Delivery
About the Roles
Both roles center on people leadership, driving team priorities, and ensuring delivery outcomes while collaborating with technical Leads. You’ll delegate deep technical implementation while you focus on people and strategic alignment. You’ll be empowered to scale operations, modernize data practices, and foster a reliable, forward-thinking Data & AI environment.
As Engineering Manager, Platform Engineering & Operations, your mission is to bring the Data & AI platform to a production-grade level — focusing on service reliability, scalability, SRE practices, and proactive operations. You’ll own team leadership, operational excellence (SLA/SLO management, incident/change, capacity), roadmap prioritization, and stakeholder communication.
As Team Lead, Data Modelling & Delivery, you’ll orchestrate the design and delivery of robust, reusable data models and ensure predictable business value. Your focus will be on guiding the team, aligning priorities, clarifying business needs, and removing blockers for smooth delivery.
Who Are We Looking For
We value experienced leaders who thrive in technical environments and demonstrate clear, pragmatic communication. Ideal candidates have:
- People leadership: Experience as a Team Lead or Manager, with a passion for coaching, growth, and building team engagement.
- Technical and operational acumen:
- For Platform Engineering: Solid understanding of cloud platforms (especially GCP, with AWS/Azure also valued), SRE, observability, automation, CI/CD, hybrid environments, and service management for production-critical systems.
- For Data Modelling & Delivery: Proficiency in Google Cloud (BigQuery), SQL, dbt, and delivery tools like Jira or Azure DevOps. Familiarity with DataOps, Data Warehousing, Data Lakes, and optionally Python or Terraform.
- Business and stakeholder focus: Ability to turn complex needs into clear, actionable plans and build trust across engineering and business units.
- Education supporting the role (e.g., M.Sc., B.Eng., M.Sc. Econ/IS) or equivalent experience.
- Comfort navigating both legacy and modern cloud/data environments and supporting migration journeys.
What We Offer
- Real Impact: Define and elevate Cloud Operations standards in one of Finland’s largest data estates — your work will directly shape the future of our Data & AI organization.
- Human-centric Leadership: Be recognized as a people leader, not just a resource. Lead teams that value growth, wellbeing, and capability development.
- Change and Modernization: Drive both legacy modernization and the scaling of new, innovative data solutions — making a tangible difference in how we operate.
- Collaboration & Growth: Work closely with Cloud, Data, BI, Analytics, and AI/ML teams, and guide the upskilling of engineers across the organization.
- Hybrid Work Environment: Enjoy the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements based in Helsinki (Pasila).
