Test Automation Engineer (Robot Framework, Playwright or similar)
Do you thrive on building reliable, scalable test automation solutions and shaping the future of software that thousands of people rely on every day?
At Finago, we’re setting a new standard for financial and human resources software. Our mission? To become the most customer‑centric business software company out there. To succeed in our goal, we’re now looking for a Test Automation Engineer for our Kuala Lumpur office to help us make it happen. The preferred start date for the position is September 2026.
Your mission? 🚀
As our Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality of our software across one of our core product lines — such as Finago Mepco or our financial management products Finago Office, Busy, Control, or Payday.
The role involves working with modern test automation technologies such as Robot Framework and Playwright. The products are primarily built with React and TypeScript on the frontend and C# .NET on the backend. You contribute throughout the entire testing lifecycle, from early specification reviews and manual test design to building scalable and maintainable test automation.
You become part of our growing Finago KL community of more than 20 professionals, working closely with Tech Leads, Software Developers, and fellow Test Automation Engineers. Collaboration extends across our Nordic organization. In this role, you act as a proactive quality ambassador and quality owner, shaping how features are tested and delivered while ensuring our products meet the high standards expected by our customers. The position reports to the local Engineering Manager.
💡 Your key tasks and responsibilities include:
- Designing, implementing, executing, and maintaining automated test suites and test cases for new features and bug fixes.
- Planning and estimating test automation work and contributing to regression testing and release readiness.
- Ensuring the usefulness, reliability, and maintainability of automated tests by following industry best practices.
- Optimizing automated test execution within CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyzing and sharing test results, monitoring test coverage, and driving continuous quality improvements.
- Planning and organizing testing activities to meet development milestones such as freezes and releases.
- Reviewing and validating ticket requirements and participating actively in early specification reviews and refinement sessions.
- Acting as the team’s quality owner and participating in Scrum ceremonies such as daily stand‑ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and demos.
- Contributing as a Test Automation Expert in workshops, projects, and quality discussions.
- Promoting smart AI usage throughout the QA and test automation development process.
- Keeping documentation up to date and collaborating closely across a distributed engineering team.
This is a permanent, full‑time hybrid‑model position located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (KLCC Common Ground). We are currently working in a co‑working space, but we are looking for an office near our current location. The move is expected to take place later this year.
You’ll work with modern automation frameworks and tools while influencing the quality practices of products. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to shape test automation approaches, collaborate with experienced engineering teams, and contribute to impactful software used by tens of thousands of customers.
💎 I'm truly having a great time, thanks to the positive work environment my manager and teammates have put in real effort to build and sustain. Communication is clear and efficient, everyone's open to learning and stepping up for each other, even beyond their own roles. That spirit of collaboration has genuinely made a real difference in how we work together as a team. I'm excited to keep growing alongside this wonderful team, both personally and professionally — whether they like it or not!
