Lapland Staff is looking for Elf Guides for the Christmas season 2024, at various locations of Lapland Safaris. We are looking for elf guides for Kelokaira Olos, Ylläs, Rovaniemi, Saariselkä, Levi, Hetta, and Pallas.

The Elf Guides job is the funniest job of all! Depending on the destination the Elf Guide is simultaneously a guide, entertainer, and a magical creature of the Christmas wonderland for our customers. The Elf Guide’s work is independent, although there may be many colleagues working on the same site.

In addition to being responsible, elves also act silly sometimes! The elves make sure everyone is in a good mood. The elves tell our international customers stories about Lapland and Lapland's nature and sing Christmas carols with the customers. Elves play with children, make snow angels, and are generally children's best friends!

Olos has a whole Kelokaira Elf village, where our elves have to be good performers. Kelokaira's elves do not guide the bus at all but create a Christmas story about a village in the middle of a snowy forest. The Post Office Elf takes care of all the letters from around the world and assists other Elf in welcoming the guests to visit Santa. Another Elf watches over Santa´s extremely private belongings such as the Secrets of Christmas. At Elf School, the Elves teach the secret Elf language.

Your most important tools are your creativity and your performance and improvisation skills. These elves also manage to clean up at the end of the day. French language skills and a driver's license are considered an advantage.

In Ylläs, Rovaniemi, Saariselkä, Pallas, Hetta, and Levi, the Elf Guide works a lot on the bus. In practice, one elf is responsible for one bus or customer group. While the group is in Lapland, the Elf Guide ensures that the agreed schedule is followed, guides the customers, informs them about important matters, and makes sure that the customers’ holiday experience is amazing! The most important tools for the Elf Guide are the bus microphone and the ability to engage with many people!

The daily tasks of the Elf Guide in Ylläs, Rovaniemi, Saariselkä, Pallas or Levi include:

  • picking up and dropping off guests to and from the airport by bus

  • taking a group by bus to an activity area and supervise children for example at the tobogganing hill once you get there

  • playing with children

  • being physically active outdoors in the variable and sometimes cold Arctic conditions, sometimes indoors in clothing or other venues.

In Rovaniemi, French language skills and a driver's license are considered an advantage, but neither is necessary. In Rovaniemi, in addition to the elf guides working on the bus, we are looking for one Melody Elf and one Principal of the Elf School. In addition to guiding the bus, the Melody Elf plays the guitar and sings and sings Christmas carols around the campfire, while the Principal Elf of the Elf School excels as the keeper of the elf school for the children. The Principal Elf needs solid presentation skills, initiative and creativity to plan and implement an Elf School.

In all our destinations, the elves are energetic, outgoing and know how to communicate fluently in English both with the elf team and with customers. The job requires good presentation and group management skills. Work can be hectic at times and the days sometimes long, so flexibility and the ability to handle pressure are vital. A driver’s license and experience with driving on snow are seen as an advantage.

Before starting the job, we will train you for the job, so previous experience in similar jobs is not required. If you have previous experience in leading groups or, for example, leading children's clubs or background with entertainment, we consider it as a big advantage. The most important thing for us is that you are motivated and enthusiastic about being an elf and that you dare to throw yourself fully into your role. The elves' job descriptions and customer groups vary somewhat from destination to destination. The work is done in the costume of an elf.

Regardless of the destination, elves can occasionally work as part of Lapland Safaris' Clothing Team.

You need to have EU-citizenship/passport or valid working permit to Finland.

We offer you:

• A great team and a wonderful work environment

• A surprising and varied job description

• An easy way to come to Lapland to work

• Numerous leisure opportunities

• Comprehensive staff benefits of Lapland Hotels, Lapland Safaris, and Lapland Ski Resorts.

The employment relationship is fixed term according to the Collective Agreement in the program service industry. The work starts at the end of November and lasts until the end of December or the beginning of January. Salary at least 9,60–12 €/hour (gross) according to requirement group A of the salary scale of the Collective Agreement.

Accommodation is usually arranged in shared rooms, at a reasonable rent compared to the local price level.

Lapland Safaris is a smoke-free workplace.

The application period ends on 29.9.2024. Applications are processed and interviews are conducted during the application period, so apply soon!
