Postdoctoral Researchers and Senior Research Fellows in Neuromorphic Computing with Memristors
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Turku, Finland, is seeking Postdoctoral Researchers and Senior Research Fellows to join an ambitious five-year project (2+3 years pending positive midterm evaluation) funded by Business Finland. The project aims to develop energy-efficient neuromorphic computing hardware based on GCMO memristors, with applications in signal processing, AI, and autonomous systems. The positions start on January 1st, 2026, or as agreed.
The project builds on the University of Turku’s expertise in memristor technology. Our group holds several international patents in GCMO memristors and has a strong track record in thin film physics, device fabrication, and neuromorphic computing. We offer an inspiring and supportive environment for cutting-edge research.
Job descriptions
2-3 Postdoctoral Researchers (fixed-term, 2 years)
We are looking for motivated postdoctoral researchers to work on different aspects of the project, including:
- Materials physics: development of memristive synaptic crossbars and neurons, environmental testing, integration to proof-of-concept applications
- Electronics engineering: analog and mixed-signal design, band-pass filters, neuromorphic front-ends
- Computer science / AI: neuromorphic algorithms, machine learning, classifier development, AI programming
Key tasks include experimental and/or computational research, collaboration within the project team, publishing results in high-level journals, and supervision of MSc students. The contracts for the positions are fixed-term for two years, with a possibility of an extension.
1-2 Senior Research Fellows (fixed-term, 5 years)
We seek experienced researchers with backgrounds in materials science, electronics, or neuromorphic computing to take a leading role in the project. Senior Research Fellows will:
- Guide and supervise postdoctoral and junior researchers
- Lead sub-projects and contribute to project strategy
- Play a key role in international collaboration and dissemination activities
