Postdoctoral Researcher in Cognitive Science

The Faculty of Information Technology is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Cognitive Science, starting on February 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter, until December 31, 2027.

The Postdoctoral Researcher will be responsible for tasks in the Academy of Finland-funded Proof-of-Concept (POC) project Drive-In Lab for Testing In-Car User Interfaces, including:

  • Designing and conducting studies in collaboration with the project leader and research partners
  • Analyzing and managing collected data
  • Coordinating driving simulator and survey studies according to the project plan

The aim of the project is to explore the utilization potential of research results and produce scientific publications. Work will be carried out in close collaboration with the project leader and a research assistant.

Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant field
  • Experience in quantitative research and strong analytical skills (statistical modeling)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Interest in the project’s research topics and in applying research results
  • Good proficiency in English

Considered an asset:

  • Experience in experimental research in behavioral sciences
  • Skills in data management and open publishing
  • The ability to teach in English

The PhD degree required for the position must have been completed before the starting date. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment. The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills of a postdoctoral researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines.

The salary for a Postdoctoral Researcher is determined based on the task-specific demand level 5–6 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The salary range will be approximately 3600-4800 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. We also support your relocation to Jyväskylä with a settling-in allowance.
