The vacancy is in the field of management accounting, which is positioned in the Department of Accounting and Finance. Research and teaching in accounting and finance covers the areas of management accounting, financial accounting (including auditing) and finance. The Department of Accounting and Finance conducts high-quality research and belongs to the leading Finnish educators of Accounting and Finance.

Job description

The duties of the Postdoctoral Researcher comprise independent scientific research in the field of management accounting. The Postdoctoral Researcher participates in the planning and execution of research in co-operation with other team members, engages in regular departmental activities (such as the SIAR seminar) and takes part in administrative duties. The duties also include teaching and supervision of theses in the field of accounting and finance.

Requirements 

The qualification requirements for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stated in the Rules of Procedure of the University of Turku.

The person selected for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher shall have an appropriate doctoral degree (management accounting or accounting & finance). The doctoral degree must be completed by the end of the application period. By opening the position of Postdoctoral Researcher, we aim to promote the research career of persons who have recently completed their doctoral degree.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a proven track record of independent and high-quality scientific work in the field of management accounting. Successful applicants have strong research orientation and fluency in English.

Desirable qualifications

Priority will be given to applicants with experience in qualitative research using interpretive and/or critical research methodologies, those whose research interests aligns with the department’s focus areas, such as performance measurement and management, prosociality, and sustainability, or areas that complement existing research.

Candidates with strong methodological expertise, prior experience teaching methodology and management accounting courses, and a background in supervision are especially encouraged to apply.

Salary and trial period

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel. For a Postdoctoral Researcher in the beginning of their career the salary is approximately 3700–4000 €/month. The amount of the salary is defined when the employment contract is prepared and is influenced by previous experience and skills.

The position has a trial period of six (6) months.
