Doctoral Researcher in the project GENTRY - Towards sustainability of multi-generational learning at work
The Faculty of Education and Psychology, Department of Education, University of Jyväskylä, is seeking to recruit 1-2 Doctoral Researchers for a fixed term of one to two (1-2) years. The position will start on February 1, 2026, or as agreed.
The positions are part of the Academy of Finland funded project "GENTRY - Towards sustainability of multi-generational learning at work”, which investigates how learning generations are constructed in workplaces, how learning occurs within and between generations, and how intergenerational learning can be supported at work. In the GENTRY project, generationality and its construction in healthcare and ICT organizations is investigated in Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. The main focus of the Doctoral Researcher's duties is on their own doctoral thesis research. A small amount of teaching duties may be assigned by the department (max. 5% of working time).
Applicants must hold a relevant Master's degree and have the right to pursue doctoral studies in the Doctoral Programme of Education at the University of Jyväskylä. If the applicant does not have permission for post-graduate studies, it must be applied with a separate application procedure from the Faculty of Education and Psychology after selection for the position.
The duties, qualification requirements, and language skills for Doctoral Researchers are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines (Doctoral Students). A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate, through previous studies and/or work experience, competence and interest in generationality and/or workplace learning as a research phenomenon. Experience in research work is considered an asset, as is proficiency in either qualitative or quantitative methods and good command of Swedish.

The salary for a Doctoral Researcher is determined based on the task-specific demand level 2–4 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The starting salary will be approximately 2500 €/month (gross income). With progress of thesis work, the salary will be revised in accordance with the Collective Agreement of Finnish Education Employers.
