Doctoral Researcher to study hypermutation in human genome

We are looking for a Doctoral Researcher for a fixed-term position from 1 November 2025 to 31 October 2028 (or starting as agreed) to the research group of Adjunct Professor Jukka Alinikula. The research group investigates how the immune system balances protective antibody production and cancer risk in the targeting of somatic hypermutation in antibody genes. The project examines how gene regulatory elements (enhancers) direct somatic hypermutation to correct and incorrect sites in the genome. The work utilizes cell and molecular biology methods, such as cell culture models, reporter assays, and NGS-based techniques, to investigate the mechanisms and errors associated with somatic hypermutation. The research group is located at the Infection and Immunity Research Unit, Institute of Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Turku.
