University Teacher in multilingual communication


The Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication (Movi) is seeking to recruit a
University Teacher in multilingual communication starting August 1st, 2025 (or as agreed) until further notice.

As a University Teacher, you are responsible for the research-based development and implementation of Movi’s multilingual communication teaching and guidance for students from different disciplines and university staff. The duties focus on the development of innovative pedagogical solutions and multilingual content to meet the needs of future working life. At Movi, teaching and development work to support students’ multilingual academic communication competence is carried out in multilingual and interdisciplinary teams with Movi’s teachers as well as staff from different university departments. The University Teacher’s role also includes shared development work within Movi and administrative tasks related to teaching.

Who we are looking for

The position requires an applicable master’s degree in languages as well as pedagogical training. In addition, candidates will be required to have a strong track record in diverse and multilingual cross-linguistic teaching and guidance, the use of learning environments and the development of multiform and multilingual teaching and learning solutions in university education.

The position also requires theoretically based pedagogical competence and proven experience in guiding and teaching groups of students from different backgrounds. The position requires good English and Finnish language skills and the ability to teach in Finnish and English. The candidate we are looking for should have a broad language repertoire, and experience in so called smaller languages is seen as an advantage.

Having solid competence in the appropriate use of technology in pedagogical work, along with an interest and proficiency in future learning and teaching technologies and their pedagogical potential, is highly valued. Development of personal competence, such as a doctorate or pursuing doctoral studies, would also be beneficial.

The duties and qualification requirements of a University Teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines.

The salary for a University Teacher is determined based on the task-specific demand level 5 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The salary range will be approximately 3500-4000 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

Movi is responsible for the communication and language studies in the degree programmes of the University of Jyväskylä as well as for its university pedagogical education.
