Senior IPR Advisor
Research and Innovation Services at the University of Jyväskylä is looking for a Senior IPR Advisor from 2 January 2026 or as soon as possible after that. The position is in effect until further notice.

Who we are looking for
We are seeking a motivated Senior IPR Advisor to help develop the university’s innovation activities and promote research-based entrepreneurship. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to strengthening the conditions for innovation and entrepreneurship within an academic community.
As a member of the Research and Innovation Services team, you will work closely with researchers, other university service professionals, and external stakeholders. The role focuses on activating and developing innovation activities, supporting the commercialisation of research results, building partnerships, and advancing the establishment of spinout companies. Key responsibilities also include identifying, protecting, and commercialising intellectual property (IP), as well as contributing to the preparation of Proof-of-Concept funding applications.
We are looking for a team player with initiative and sound judgement. The role requires vision for activating and developing innovation activities, as well as experience in identifying, protecting, and commercialising research-based business ideas and inventions. You should also have broad experience in stakeholder collaboration, technology transfer, service innovation development, and preparing funding applications related to research commercialisation (e.g. Business Finland).
Senior IPR Advisor is required to have
- A master’s degree
- Interest in broad development tasks
- Decision-making ability
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in Finnish and English
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
The following will be considered an advantage
- A doctoral degree
- Expertise in industrial property rights and contract law
- Experience in mentoring early-stage companies
- Experience in development-oriented roles

The salary for a Senior IPR Advisor is determined based on the task-specific demand level MV10-MV11 of the university salary system for other expert and support service staff. The salary range will be approximately 4400 - 5500 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of the employment.
