We are now looking for a 

Project Coordinator Trainee 

for a fixed-term position from 1.9.–30.11.2026. 

As a Project Coordinator Trainee, you will work in the City of Jyväskylä’s Corporate Administration, within the Strategy and Development department, and gain broad insight into development and project management tasks. 

The Development Support unit develops and maintains the city’s development models, tools, and processes. It supports project activities, digitalisation and internationalisation, explores funding opportunities and assists in applying for funding, and strengthens cooperation and project expertise. 

In addition, the unit develops and coordinates international networks and stakeholder collaboration, supports management during international high‑level visits, promotes European advocacy, assists in EU lobbying and project application practices, and identifies new opportunities to utilise EU funding channels. 

Trainee tasks 

As a trainee, you will work under the guidance of our team and take part in diverse tasks based on your skills and learning goals. Your tasks may include for example: 

  • Supporting the team and departments in project preparation and identifying funding opportunities. 
  • Working as a project manager partner in the PROTO process development project, including preparing and implementing pilot activities starting in the autumn. 
  • Further developing and establishing development models and project management processes and tools as part of our development work. 
  • Preparing internal Developer Network events and meetings as well as handling practical arrangements. 
  • Assisting in other team tasks, such as international affairs. 

Tasks can be adjusted, limited, or emphasised based on the applicant’s competence and interests. 

Who is this position suitable for? 

The trainee programme is intended for: 

  • Students in the final stages of their studies or recent graduates, for example in business, administrative sciences, communications, or business administration. 
  • Some of the tasks can be performed in English. Applicants are expected to have a basic level of Finnish language skills.

The terms of employment follow the general municipal collective agreement. The trainee salary is 2260€/month. 

It is possible to combine the trainee period with a university internship or work try‑out.

The trainee period begins on 1.9.2026 or as agreed.
