Project Researcher position is available in the research group of Professor Jukka Westermarck at Turku Bioscience Centre, University of Turku, starting on the 1st of January, 2027 (or as agreed) until the end of December, 2029.

Task and requirements

The main task is to support experimental work in on-going research projects and to participate in data analysis. The work will be done in cooperation with experienced researchers and may include also laboratory animal work. The project engineer will also participate in maintenance and development of laboratory routines and techniques.

Successful applicants are expected to have Master of Science level education in natural sciences. This is also a strict qualification requirement based on the rule of procedures of Turku University.  Also solid hands-on experience in biochemical experiments and in working with cell lines is needed. The ideal candidate must be ready to learn new techniques/methods and continuously develop his/her skills, as well as be able to work well in international environment. Knowledge in Finnish language is an asset but not essential, but good skills in English are required. Previous research experience in cellular signal transduction is an asset.

Salary and trial period

The salary is determined in accordance with the university salary system for teaching and research personnel  personnel. The job requirement level of the position is OV02 - OV03.  In addition, a salary component based on personal work performance is paid. Salary, based on previous experience and skills, is approximately 2600 - 3000 euros/month at the beginning of the assignment.

The start of the employment is negotiable, preferably by Jan 2027. The position is fixed-term until end of Dec 2029. The position is subject to a six-month trial period.
