Sled dog guides, Lapland Husky Safaris Levi-Ylläs
Lapland Staff is looking for sled dog guides for the winter season 2025 – 2026, for Lapland Husky Safaris Levi-Ylläs.
Our kennel, located near the town of Muonio, is a middle-sized husky kennel so there is for sure sound and hustle during the winter season! Our kennel is home to a pack of approximately 180 dogs who will be your daily workmates as well as your human colleagues. Our guests arrive mainly from around Europe, in December most of them come from the UK. Husky safari is one of the most anticipated excursions of international guests during their holiday in Lapland!
We are looking for brisk, active, and customer service-oriented Sled dog guides to do kennel and guide work. If you are cheerful, flexible, and a multi-talent who is not afraid of physical work, this work could be for you. Furthermore, if you get along well with people and dogs, you can communicate in English fluently, and like to work outside regardless of the weather, then for sure you are the person we are looking for.
Your tasks include taking care of the dogs, daily work at the kennel, and guiding safaris. Kennel work includes taking care of the dogs’ well-being, feeding and watering them, socializing the puppies, and daily cleaning of the kennels. Guiding work includes preparation of the safaris and dismantling tasks after the program, customer service at the kennel and in the terrain during the safari, and guiding dog sleds. At our kennel everyone does everything!
To fully succeed at this work, you need flexibility towards work hours, pressure tolerance to handle rush and changing situations, and good physical condition. At least a class B driver’s license is required for the job and experience driving a snowmobile is considered an advantage. Our safaris are led by a snowmobile and our guests drive their dog sleds themselves.
We organize first aid training for our employees at the beginning of the season but previously acquired first aid skills are considered an advantage. In addition, previous experience in guide work, outdoor work in winter conditions, regional knowledge, and experience working with dogs are also considered as an advantage. However, the most important thing is a realistic understanding of the demands of the work, especially its physical nature, but also the rewarding nature of the work.
On your days off, you can get to know the incredible nature of the north, enjoy many kinds of winter activities, and spend time with like-minded people. In the opinion of many employees, one of the best things about work is a great team, where you make friends from all over the world. The season is intense, so in a very short time both human and canine friends become very familiar. It's great that your office is in the most beautiful scenery of northern Finland and your coworkers are always excited to see you!
We offer you:
A great international work team
Variable work tasks and working days in fresh, clean air
Diverse experience of working in a large husky kennel
