Sled dog guides, Lapland Husky Safaris Rovaniemi

Lapland Staff is looking for sled dog guides and kennel workers for the winter season 2025-2026, for Lapland Husky Safaris Rovaniemi.

Lapland Husky Safaris is one of the oldest husky kennels in Rovaniemi area. Our kennel is a home to a pack of approximately 250 dogs who will be your daily workmates as well as your 15 human colleagues. Our guests arrive mainly from abroad.

The duties of a sled dog guide include taking care of the dogs, daily work at the kennel, guiding safaris and possibly maintaining the routes. Kennel work includes taking care of the dogs’ well-being, feeding and watering them, socializing the puppies, and daily cleaning of the kennels. Guiding work includes preparation of the safaris and dismantling tasks after the program, customer service at the kennel and in the terrain during the safari and guiding dog sledges.

The kennel worker is in an extremely important position when it comes to taking care of the well-being of the dogs. Duties include daily cleaning of dog kennels and food preparation. If necessary, the kennel worker participates in guide work in an auxiliary role together with the sled dog handlers, takes care of the dogs and general kennel maintenance work.

In your work, you need good physical condition, a brisk attitude, and the ability to tolerate ever-changing situations. Since our guests are international, knowledge of English and French in particular, is considered an advantage.

As a sled dog guide, guiding in the terrain is mainly done by snowmobile, so at least a class B driver's license is necessary and experience driving a snowmobile is considered an advantage. Previous experience as a guide is also considered an advantage, but it is not necessary. We will familiarize you with the work tasks. We organize first aid training for our employees at the beginning of the season but previously acquired first aid skills are considered an advantage. The most important thing for us is a realistic understanding of the demands of the work, especially its physical nature, but also the reward - every morning, hundreds of colleagues greet you so enthusiastically that you almost need hearing protection. You should also have a flexible and fearless attitude to work, working hours are mainly between 7:00 and 16:00, in December between 7:00 and 19:00.

On your days off, you can get to know the incredible nature of the north, enjoy many kinds of winter activities and spend time with like-minded people. In the opinion of many employees, one of the best things about work is a great team, where you make friends from all over the world. The season is intense, so in a very short time both human and canine friends become very familiar. It's great that your office is in the most beautiful scenery of northern Finland and your coworkers are always excited to see you!

We offer you:

  • A great international work team

  • Variable work tasks and working days in fresh, clean air

  • Diverse experience of working in a large husky kennel

  • Comprehensive staff benefits of Lapland Hotels & Lapland Safaris. You will receive benefits for example from equipment rental, restaurants and Lapland Ski Resorts’ lift tickets.
