Northern lights / evening time Safari Guide, Lapland Safaris Rovaniemi

Lapland Staff is looking for Northern Lights/evening time safari guides for the winter season 2025-2026 to Lapland Safaris Rovaniemi. 

 

The most important task of a Northern Lights/evening safari guide is to take our international guests to the dark, but ever-enchanting wintery nature of Lapland both by bus, as well as snowmobile. While waiting for the mesmerizing performance of the Northern lights, the guide will tell the guests about the magical phenomenon in question, as well as the nature of Lapland. Therefore, since storytelling is one of the most important tasks of a Northern lights / evening time safari guide, excellent storytelling skills, as well as knowledge of photography are very useful.   

As a guide, your workdays consist of preparing for the safari programs, meeting the guests before the safaris, as well as taking care of the clothing of your guests. As the title reflects, Northern lights / evening time safari guides work mainly in the evening, but the possibility for additional work conducted during mornings or daytime is provided as well.  

One of the most essential parts of the job is to help dress our guests with winter clothes, and all our guides work as part of our equipment team. You will help our guests dress up properly before each safari and after the activity you will take care of the clothes that you provided such as overalls, socks, boots and gloves. Whatever you do, every day you get to see the excitement on your guests’ faces as they prepare for new and unique experiences! 

The guides we are looking for are versatile and multitalented, with an open attitude towards different work tasks. Fluent English skills are a requirement, knowledge of French language in particular, is considered an advantage. We train our employees in first aid skills, but we value previously acquired first aid skills as well. At least a class B driver's license is an essential requirement for the job. BE driver's license and experience of driving a large, 9-seater vehicle in snowy conditions are considered advantageous, as well as knowledge of the area.

Lapland Safaris organizes training for new guides before the start of employment. The training covers required guide skills, such as first aid, cold protection, problem solving and outdoor/wilderness skills. We practice performing and learn snowmobiling skills. The cornerstones of the education are knowledge, skill and safety. The language of education is English, and the education is free of charge. Employees will also be briefed on each task at the beginning of their employment. 

The employment relationship is a fixed term seasonal contract by the Collective Agreement in the Adventure Services sector. Work will begin in mid-November 2025 and will last until approximately until the end of March 2026. A few positions end already in mid-January 2026. Salary according to the Collective Agreement of Adventure Services grade A-C, hourly wage between 10,50-14,58 € (gross). Work will be done also during weekends and public holidays. Sundays and Finnish bank holidays are paid double. Accommodation is organized in shared accommodation, with a reasonable rent in comparison to the local price level.
