Senior Lecturer in Health promotion
Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences is seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer in Health promotion starting 2nd January 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is in effect until further notice.
The duties of a Senior Lecturer in Health promotion focus on teaching in the Bachelor´s program in health sciences and the Master's program in health promotion. Duties focus especially on health promotion planning, project and evaluation processes, as well as supervision of theses.
The Senior Lecturer also participates in joint teaching of sport and health sciences students in the faculty. In addition, the duties include research work, focusing on one of the research priorities of the Health Promotion Research Center, which include Children's and young people's health and health literacy, Environment-based health promotion, and The interaction between lifestyle and genetics in promoting health and well-being.
Cooperation across fields of study and disciplines, research-based teaching experiments, and teaching skills based on a strategy of continuous learning are considered an important part of the work. For this reason, cooperation with other fields of study in the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences will be intensified and teaching will be integrated more closely between fields of study. The Senior Lecturer will strengthen teaching and research in the field in cooperation with Health Promotion and related fields of study in the faculty.
Who we are looking for
The applicant is required to have a relevant doctoral degree, evidence of independent research work in the field of health promotion, the ability to provide high-quality teaching based on research in the field, and experience in teaching health promotion at the basic, intermediate and advanced levels at the university, as well as experience in supervising theses. In this position, the primary language of instruction is Finnish, but English is also used. We consider teaching qualifications or ongoing teacher training, fluent English language skills and the ability to teach in English, as well as familiarity with practical health promotion work, to be an advantage for the applicant.
The duties and qualification requirements of Senior Lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

The salary for a Senior Lecturer is determined based on the task-specific demand level 6–7 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff. The salary range will be approximately 4200-5600 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
