Research Funding Advisor

University of Jyväskylä is seeking to recruit a Research Funding Advisor, starting May 4, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is in effect until further notice.

The open position is in Research and Innovation Services (RIS). RIS assists researchers in applying for external funding, supports the utilisation and commercialisation of research results, and develops the conditions for the University's research activities.

Who should apply

We are seeking a service-oriented and motivated expert with experience working at a higher education institution or research organisation, applying for external research funding, and providing application support services. 

As a research funding advisor, you will support researchers in applying for research and innovation funding, particularly from the Academy of Finland and the Strategic Research Council (SRC), but also from other national and international funding sources (e.g., ERC, MSCA). Your duties include identifying funding sources and relevant networks, interpreting funders’ requirements, providing feedback on applications, and contributing to their drafting. You actively follow funding opportunities and communicate and train researchers on them. 

You are proactive, self-motivated and cooperative. You have strong analytical skills and the ability to see the big picture. You excel at finding valuable information for researchers and integrating data from various sources. You are a good team player, but you also work independently and manage your own tasks thoughtfully. 

Research funding advisor is required to have

  • master’s degree 
  • good communication, cooperation and interaction skills 
  • good oral and written skills in English and good command in Finnish 
  • experience in working at a higher education institution or research organisation 
  • experience in preparing funding applications for the Academy of Finland, as well as in advising applicants and providing support services

The following will be considered an advantage 

  • trainer skills
  • experience in research work  
  • experience in evaluating funding applications
  • experience with researcher-led research funding, such as STN, MSCA tai ERC

Salaries are based on job demands and employees’ performance following the Finnish University Salary System. The salary for a research funding advisor is determined based on the task-specific demand level MV09 of the university salary system for other expert and support service staff. The salary range will be approximately 3600-4200 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A holiday bonus is paid to all employees. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
