2 University Teachers in Information Systems Science

We are seeking two motivated and enthusiastic university lecturers to teach information systems science at the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Jyväskylä. One of the positions is a fixed-term until February 28, 2031, and the other is a valid until further notice. Both positions will be filled from August 1, 2026 onwards. 

The duties will primarily involve teaching at the bachelor’s level in Information Systems Science.  We are specifically seeking expertise in the following areas: 

  • service design 

  • design and development of digital services 

  • project management, project work, and project leadership 

  • architecture modelling 

  • information systems and their role in enterprises 

The duties will vary depending on the candidates’ profiles. The positions require participation in the unit’s research and development activities as well as in the continuous development of teaching.

Job Description: 

  • Primarily teaching and supervision at the bachelor and master level 

  • Supervision of bachelor’s theses and master’s theses, and related seminars and other teaching activities 

  • Research work as part of a larger research group 

  • Possible administrative duties 

  • Various development tasks 

Requirements: 

  • A relevant master’s degree (in Information Systems Science or a related field).  A doctoral degree is considered as an asset. 

  • Experience in teaching the subject areas and desired fields, as well as in supervising theses 

  • Evidence of the ability to conduct and publish high-quality, impactful research.

The duties and qualification requirements of a University Teacher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. Good proficiency in English and the ability to teach in English will be considered an advantage. The primary language of instruction is Finnish but English can also be used. For permanent position, adequate teaching skills in Finnish are expected in a few years time. The university provides language courses for non-Finnish faculty. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

Salaries are based on job demands and employees’ performance following the Finnish University Salary System. The salary for a University Teacher is determined based on the task-specific demand level 5 for teaching and research staff. The salary range will be approximately 3600-4100 €/month (gross income), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A holiday bonus is paid to all employees. If you are relocating from abroad, we will support your move to Jyväskylä and Finland.
